Bench Hand Joiner / Workshop Operative
Full-Time Position - £18 an hour
Location: Waverton, Chester
Our client is seeking a highly reliable and self-managed Bespoke Furniture Workshop Operative to join their in-house joinery workshop. This is a full-time, hands-on role for someone well-organised, proactive and capable of working independently across multiple aspects of production, logistics, and installation.
You will be involved in the manufacture (bench hand skills), handling and occasional installation of fitted and freestanding furniture, including kitchens, wardrobes, media walls, and one-off bespoke pieces. The role also includes assisting with deliveries, some on-site support for residential installations, and maintaining an organised workshop and storage environment.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, a practical mindset, and the ability to manage their own time and responsibilities effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Workshop Production & Joinery Support
- Assisting with the production of bespoke and fitted furniture, including kitchens, wardrobes, and media walls
- Preparing materials and supporting joiners with fabrication tasks
- Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment
- Working with care and attention to detail to uphold quality standards
2. Site & Delivery Work
- Supporting on-site installations for residential projects when required
- Loading, transporting, and delivering materials or completed items to and from local sites
- Representing the studio professionally while working in client environments
- Taking responsibility for handling items safely and securely
3. Workshop Logistics & Warehousing
- Organising deliveries, offloading goods, and managing materials in and out of the workshop
- Keeping inventory areas tidy and ensuring tools and materials are stored correctly
- Reporting material shortages or site/tooling needs to the senior team
Candidate Profile:
- Trustworthy, responsible, and able to manage time and workload independently
- Strong practical skills and previous workshop or joinery experience desirable
- Well-organised with good attention to detail and pride in their work
- Comfortable with some physical work and manual handling
- Holds a valid UK driving licence and is happy to assist with deliveries
- A flexible and helpful attitude, willing to support wherever needed
Working Hours:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Based at our client’s workshop in Waverton, Chester, with occasional travel to local project sites
