Location: Weston, Sidmouth

Hours: Full Time, working 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £31,376 per annum

Contract: Permanent

As Carpenter/Joiner, you will undertake a mix of both planned and reactive maintenance works for our internal customers across The Donkey Sanctuary sites, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard and in a safe, timely and cost efficient manner.

About you:

  • A City and Guilds qualification in a relevant field or equivalent qualification (e.g. NVQ level 3).
  • Working knowledge of woodworking techniques and construction materials.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Proven understanding of Health and Safety and risk assessments.
  • Full UK valid driving licence.

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

  • Completing general carpentry and joinery repairs, general building tasks and adjustments to existing woodworks throughout all DS sites.
  • Supporting the construction of new sectional buildings, including mobile shelters, stables and sheds.
  • Carrying out the assembly of structures, building and installing frameworks, doors, windows, staircases, and furniture.
  • Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other materials for assigned works minimising wastage.
  • Ensuring all health and safety protocols are adhered to, including the completion of point of work risk assessments and mandatory training.
  • Inspecting and maintaining tools, ensuring all equipment is in good condition and safe to use.
  • Ensuring that estimates for quantities and materials are requested/ordered as required, and accepting and checking materials on delivery, signing delivery notes and raising any issues with the delivery of materials, should they arise.
