Horton Housing

Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.

We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to join Horton Housing Association. This is a new role, which forms part of the expansion of our homelessness contract. The role is 35 hours per week, full time.

The role

You will be supporting families, living in temporary accommodation in Bradford, to move into permanent housing. You will assist tenants in the practical and emotional aspects of managing and maintaining their accommodation and liaising with other support services.

You will ensure immediate needs are met such as food, clothing and access to benefits. You will have the ability to carry out domestic duties and minor repairs to ensure tenants have a clean and safe living environment.

What we are looking for

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle that can be insured for business use
Experience of working with people with multiple needs which may include mental health challenges, homelessness, drug and/or alcohol use
Experiencing working in a housing environment providing housing and tenancy related support
Knowledge of health and safety tasks, including in the maintenance of properties (i.e. fire alarm tests, property checks, reporting repairs etc.)
Skills in planning, organising and the ability to prioritise work to maintain accurate and timely reports
Have excellent communication, report writing and ICT skills
You are approachable, adaptable and have the ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure

What Horton offers in return?
