Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.

We are currently recruiting for a Navigator to join our Street Reach programme in Calderdale. This role is 35 hours per week. This role is temporary until 31st March 2025. 

The role

The Street Reach service uses a strength-based approach to enabling people to use their talents and abilities to solve their own problems. You will work with flexibly with people to build their confidence to enable them to develop independent living skills. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will assist people in accessing appropriate benefit entitlements and provide support with managing and maintaining budgets
  • Support people to access appropriate and safe emergency accommodation/move-on accommodation
  • Assisting in the delivery of Drop-Ins in Halifax town centre and the Upper Valley
  • Support individuals, who may be rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping
  • Respond to reports and sightings of rough sleepers in Calderdale
  • Undertake daily outreach sessions including early morning, late evening sessions
  • Engage with people who are sleeping rough, establishing a rapport and encouraging them to engage with the service
  • Assist tenants in two of our crash pads to comply with the terms of occupancy agreements and handling of repairs.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of working with people with mental ill health including dual diagnosis
  • Experience of working directly with vulnerable and marginalised clients with a range of complex needs, including, homelessness and rough sleeping, drug and alcohol misuse, a history of offending and those in crisis situations
  • Experience of undertaking assessments, and developing individual support plans and working with vulnerable people in a community/street setting
  • Experience of collating and analysing data
  • Evidence of vocational training in relevant skills for the post e.g. mental health issues and social care
  • Experience or knowledge of working with people with multiple needs who may have experienced rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping.
  • DBS Check
  • Valid driving licence and vehicle

In return, this role is offering a salary of £26,132 per year, based on a 35 hour week. We also offer 6 weeks annual leave, with Bank Holidays on top.
