Production Welder

Our client based in Alton is looking to recruit an experienced Production Welder that lives within 10 miles of Alton

Reporting directly to the Welding Supervisor, this position provides essential support in the manufacture of component parts, fittings, and production of jig’s/fixtures.

Their welding operations include the following processes: Mig / Tig welding, and gas brazing.

The role requires a full understanding and awareness to produce accurate, quality finished parts plus fittings in an efficient and safe manner at all times.

Hours: 8am – 4.30pm Monday - Friday

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You should have a strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with a proven welding background in Brazing, Mig and Tig welding. Having the ability to receive and undertake instruction, alongside a willingness to learn and develop. Experience in designing and producing production jigs and fixtures would be beneficial.

A positive can-do attitude, coupled with an eye for the detail, good communication skills and an excellent attendance record is required to be successful in this role.

In time, this role could progress onto a lead welding role within the business.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Be willing to learn new welding skills/techniques as and when required (Laser welding is a possibility onsite in the future)
  • Basic computer literacy (training will be provided if required- basic logging into/out of jobs)
  • Be able to follow standard operating procedures, ensuring quality of product is always maintained.
  • Be willing and able to assist with process improvement ideas.
  • Physical strength and stamina (role is primarily standing with exception of breaks and lunch period)
  • Ability to lift medium to heavy objects.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Main function will be to work in the welding department, utilising welding skills.
  • Assist in the Machine Shop if required using basic manual machinery to manufacture component parts and fittings.
  • Be willing and able to work in all Production areas, as and when the needs arise.
  • Assist in accurate record keeping using the computerised system to record completed jobs (training will be given)
  • Ensure proper care and attention is taken in the use and maintenance of all equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Understand and abide by the production departments workplace safety and environmental practices in addition to the overall Company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow work instructions to complete products according to specifications and inspect completed work for quality control.
  • Report defective materials, machines, or questionable conditions to the Welding Supervisor immediately.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Welding Supervisor and/or Management.

  • 6 weeks’ holiday in each complete calendar year in relation to your contractual working days and hours inclusive of statutory and public holidays. All statutory and public holidays must be taken as holiday within this entitlement.
