Service Manager

Horton Housing

Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training, and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people, and refugees. We provide accommodation, skills, and language support and use a strength-based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a way that works for them.

We are currently recruiting two managers to join our Homeless Partnership Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in mobilising and developing the service as it expands, allowing you to put your own stamp on its growth and direction. This role is permanent, 35 hours per week.

Bradford Homeless Partnership (BHP) provides short-term temporary and emergency accommodation and support for people to whom Bradford Local Authority owes a statutory (legal) homelessness duty. The aim of the service is to prevent the most vulnerable people from experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. The three separate elements delivered by Horton are families (including single parents), single men, and single women.

The Role

The Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service. The post holder will supervise a team of support workers who will deliver housing-related support, ensuring all people receive a holistic, personalised service. The Service Manager will also oversee the effective housing management of the service, ensuring internal standards are met and regulatory requirements are upheld.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a meaningful impact in homelessness services, shape service delivery, and lead a team in a dynamic and evolving environment.

  • Experience of housing management including health and safety, repairs and maintenance, property checks, tenancy agreements, etc
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues facing people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and offending behaviour or drug/alcohol challenges
  • Evidence of vocational training and/or professional development in relevant skills for the post (e.g. housing law, mental health, welfare benefits, drug and alcohol dependency)
  • Ability to apply a trauma-informed approach when working with individuals who have experienced multiple disadvantage.
